About the Festival
This year Saint John marks the 225th Anniversary of the Loyalist Landing at Fort LaTour, located next to the Harbor passage walkway, and approximately 500 yards from Fort Howe. Saint John is a wonderful city of hard working, easy going people. I should know. I'm a Saint Johner. I'm Cassandra O'Neill, a recent graduate of UNBSJ. My father is a Captain of Training for the Saint John Fire Department and president of Saint John Soccer. My grandfather was a mechanic at Moosehead Breweries. I have Saint John running through my blood. This year from July 1-12 Saint John is hosting Rising Tides Festival. After you see what we do here in the city to celebrate our history, music, sports, arts, culture and events, you'll understand why I'm proud to be a Saint Johner. 2008's festival will include something for everyone. With venue partners located throughout the city it won't be hard to come across an event. Retail venues will be hosting great summer sales while sports enthusiasts will be pleased to know they can catch a few games at one of our festival tournaments. Entertainment events are being hosted every night so make an evening of it with dinner at a local restaurant followed by a concert. Enjoy boating? Why not take a sail down the river in an armada of boats hosted by the local marina. This year's festival is sure to be an attraction, so come visit Saint John and see for yourself everything that we have to offer, but be careful...you just might stay!
